First DrumPower Training in the UK In an intensive seminar from 26th to 28th June 2015 Dr. Andreas Wölfl taught the basics of the DrumPower concept in Worchester, UK. Daniel Thomas, director of the CHROMA Institute for music, art and drama therapy, had invited to train and inform the staff of the Institute. They will offer DrumPower projects at different schools in the UK starting in autumn 2015. (Daniel Thomas reports, that the demand for music therapy group projects in the context of/with the aim of conflict solution in the UK is really great. So far the resonance of the schools on DrumPower has been very positive. The training took place in the premises of the University of Worchester, in a former chapel, with excellent acoustics. Due to the long lasting experience and good theoretical preparation of the participants, the seminar was held at a high professional level. The high proportion of exercises ensured that theory and methodology were provided in a very practical way, so that the concept step by step and the methodology during the project were evident for all participants at once. Methodical exercises of instructing groups within the project method completed the basic seminar. All participants are now well prepared to perform DrumPower projects at schools. Overall, the seminar took place in a very good learning environment. The participants enjoyed playing music, music therapeutic role play and a vivid discussion of the DrumPower concept . |
