Drum Power Project in Poing, Primary Two

The primary two in Poing joined our DrumPower-Project with great enthusiasm. The project started in November 2017 and ended up in April 2018 with a wonderful performance. During this time the pupils joined our music sessions once a week for an hour and a half. They drummed many different rhythms, they danced to music, they enjoyed improvisations on different instruments und they learned how to say stop and to react to stop. When the ocean drum was played, it started to be quiet, and almost everyone lay down and was listening to the sound. Some kids are really enjoyed it, for others it was more difficult to relax.
They also learned how to find solutions when someone had a quarrel.

Two pupils want to sit on one chair? What can be the solution?

«We can both sit on the floor!»

The day of the performance everybody was excited. After drumming, role play, playing quiet instruments, they sang the song «Jack sat in the kitchen» accompanied by playing on the drums.

One beat right, one beat on your own knees, one beat left. That wasn´t easy!
They did very well! Parents, grandparents and school mates were delighted.
They learned a lot and had fun!
